The crew fights for survival as the sea serpent circles.
4/18/2026 – The Serpent’s Fury
The sea monster circled the broken ship like a predator tasting blood in the water. Its massive body cut through the waves, black scales glistening, red eyes locked on the three desperate souls clinging to the wreckage. The air itself seemed thick with the scent of fear and splintered wood.
Captain Salt’s voice cut through the roar of the sea. “Stay back, Fin! This serpent is a blood-thirsty monster!”
Finnley gave a grim nod and planted his feet as best he could on the tilting deck. His strong farm-boy legs, so sure on solid ground, felt clumsy and useless against the endless rolling of the waves.
The sea monster attacked.
What happens next?
On a 1-3: The monster bites into the side of the ship, splintering the wooden vessel and causing massive damage.
On a 4: The sea monster dips under the water…
On a 5: The monster rises out of the water and prepares for a massive attack.
On a 6: The sea monster uses its tail to batter the ship.
The sea monster rolled a 2.
With a colossal, gaping jaw lined with jagged teeth, the Monster of the Sea slammed into the port side. The bite landed with terrifying force. Wood exploded outward in a spray of splinters and foam. The weathered ship gave a sickening crack and snapped clean in half.
Debris flew everywhere. Finnley and Captain Salt were hurled across the breaking deck. From inside the cabin came Lila’s terrified scream. The sea monster, now busy chewing on chunks of the ship, gave them a momentary reprieve.
What happens next?
On a 1-2: The ship rips apart, splitting the crew.
On a 3: Captain Salt steadies herself for a shot with her bow.
On a 4: Finnley takes a swing at the monster.
On a 5-6: Lila picks up the Obsidian Dagger.
The roll was a 1. The ship rips apart!
The vessel tore violently in two. Captain Salt was flung to one side, Finnley to the other. The sea churned between them.
Where does Lila end up?
On a 1-2: Lila ends up with Finnley.
On a 3-4: Lila is on Captain Salt’s side of the ship.
On a 5-6: Finnley and Captain Salt are on the same side, leaving Lila alone.
The roll was a 5.
“LILA!” Finnley shouted, his voice cracking over the roar of the waves. “Get on something! Save yourself!”
In those frantic seconds, Lila grabbed her small satchel and the strange Obsidian Dagger, then threw herself onto a floating piece of debris. The sea monster circled lazily, waiting for its next strike. Time stretched thin. Finnley caught a glimpse of Lila clinging to her makeshift raft… then looked desperately toward Captain Salt on the opposite piece of wreckage.
Captain Salt stands her ground as chaos erupts on deck.
Where do they get swept off to?
On a 1-2: Finnley and Captain Salt get pushed West, while Lila gets swept Southwest.
On a 3-4: Lila is swept West while Captain Salt and Finnley are dragged toward the Northwest.
On a 5-6: All three are swept to the Southeast, but on separate makeshift vessels.
They rolled a 1.
The currents were merciless.
Finnley and Captain Salt were shoved violently westward by the churning waves, their broken section of deck spinning like a dying leaf. Finnley clung desperately to the jagged wood, salt stinging his eyes, his heart hammering as he watched Lila’s small raft get pulled away in the opposite direction – southwest, into darker, unknown waters.
“LILA!” he screamed again, but the wind and waves swallowed his voice.
Captain Salt gripped the edge of their raft, her knuckles white, jaw set in grim determination. She didn’t waste breath shouting. She simply stared toward the horizon where Lila had disappeared, her face carved with quiet fury.
The sea had made its choice. The three of them were now separated, drifting farther and farther apart with every crashing wave.
