Ivory Terrain & Weather Dice | My New Favorite Tool for Hex Crawls

I just picked up a new set of jumbo terrain and weather dice and I’m really happy with them. I went with the ivory/parchment color and they feel great in the hand. These are satisfying chunky dice that make rolling terrain and weather conditions a lot more fun.

There are three dice in the set:

Bone Terrain & Weather Dice

The first die is for terrain types. It has twelve sides covering a wide range of environments: Wastes, Swamp, Desert, Savanna, Plains, Hills, Mountains, Tundra, Forest, Jungle, Lake, and Sea.

The second die handles weather with twelve outcomes: Storm, Rain, Showers, Windy, Foggy, Overcast, Partly Cloudy, and Clear.

The third die covers natural disasters and major events: Heatwave, Blizzard, Hailstorm, Tornado, Hurricane, Flood, Blinding Fog, Thunderstorm, Wildfire, Dust Storm, Earthquake, and Eruption.

I love how these dice make random terrain and weather feel more tactile and exciting during play. They pair really well with the free Random Terrain & Weather Generator I built on the site too.

If you’re looking for a fun way to add more atmosphere to your hex crawls or overland travel, these are worth checking out. Here’s the link on Amazon where I found them.

Some of the fine features of these terrain dice.

  • Three Giant Generators in One Set – Includes a Basic Weather die, a Severe Weather & Disaster die, and a Geography / Terrain die. Perfect for quick randomization during hex crawls, solo adventures, or full campaigns.
  • Beautiful Hand-Drawn Artwork – Each die features original, whimsical yet functional tarot-inspired illustrations by Mike Saltzman of Viridian Dice. I went with the ivory/parchment color and they look fantastic.
  • My New Favorite Worldbuilding Tool – These dice give just enough structure to spark ideas without limiting your creativity. “Wastes” could be a barren wasteland or hide something much worse. “Lake” could be peaceful… or a fog-shrouded nightmare. You decide how dangerous or interesting each result becomes.
  • High Quality – Made by Q Workshop with durable materials and crisp engraving that should last for years of gaming.
  • Easy to Read – Jumbo 30mm size with clear iconography, perfect for seeing results even from across the table.
  • Great for Any Fantasy RPG – Works wonderfully with Warhammer Fantasy, D&D, Pathfinder, and other systems for overland travel and random encounters.

If you grab a set, I’d love to hear what you think of them! Tag me on X (@thehousegame) when you roll them for the first time. I’m always looking for new ways to make hex crawls and solo play more fun.

Happy rolling!
