The Land of Time | Session 1

The adventure starts here.
Where will the dice take us?

4/12/2026 – The Simple Farmer
Our story begins in the small farming village of Farthwell, a modest settlement tucked beside a clear stream and bordered by light forests. In the summer months the farmers plant their crops in the western fields and spend their evenings in the local tavern, eating, drinking, and letting the day’s worries melt away.
But today, that familiar rhythm is about to change.
It was just another ordinary morning of planting this season’s crops for Finnley Reed – or as the locals have long called him, Finny – when the first distant shouts carried across the fields. By the time the sun had climbed higher, smoke was already rising from the eastern edge of the village. Raiders had come.
In the chaos, Finny dropped his planting tools and grabbed the only thing within reach: his sturdy oak walking staff. It wasn’t much of a weapon, but it was solid and familiar in his hands.
Without a second thought, Finny gripped his sturdy oak staff and rushed toward the rising black smoke. “Please don’t let it be raiders…” he muttered, heart pounding as he dashed through the meek wooden gates of Farthwell.
The fire had already taken hold. Flames licked at the thatched roofs of the modest homes, thick smoke choking the air. People were running in every direction, their cries and wails cutting through the chaos. Finny’s eyes darted wildly, searching for the safest path to his family’s home. His parents… his younger siblings… they were all still inside.
Finny rounded the dirt street and froze.
His home was already engulfed in roaring flames. Angry orange fire chewed through the thatched roof, sending thick, acidic smoke into the sky. The heat hit him like a wall, clamping down on his lungs as he tried to breathe. If his family was still inside… they were already gone.

Finnley watches his home burn as raiders descend.
The adventure starts here.
Finnley finds bandits starting his home on fire.
He started running toward the burning house anyway – staff gripped tight in his hands – when two raiders stepped out of the smoke, blocking his path. They were big, grinning men carrying torches and axes. One of them laughed at the sight of the young farmer clutching nothing but a wooden stick.
What does Finny do next?
On a 1–3 he turns and flees (losing 1 Morale).
On a 4–6 he stands and fights (gaining 1 Strength).
Finnley rolled a 2.
The chance to stand and fight slipped away like a door slamming shut. His courage broke. He spun on his heel and ran.
The raiders weren’t done with him. Do the raiders pursue?
On a 1–3 they don’t.
On a 4–6 they chase him.
The raiders rolled a 6.
With cruel laughter echoing behind him, the two raiders broke into a run, chasing the fleeing farm boy through the smoke-filled streets of Farthwell.
Finnley Reed knew his hometown like the back of his hand. Every twist, every narrow path, every hidden shortcut. He ran as fast as he could, cutting between homes and ducking through the smoke. Finally the raiders fell behind, lost in the haze.
He knew in his gut that his family could not have survived. Still, the desperate thoughts kept spinning. Maybe they got out in time. Maybe they weren’t home. Maybe they went to the river for water… or maybe… maybe…
His mind was a mess. The emotions were overtaking everything.
What direction does Finny run next?
On a 1 he heads northeast toward the center of town.
On a 2 he heads east to search the river.
On a 3 he takes the south gate out of town toward the forest.
On a 4 he heads out of town into the unknown.
On a 5 he heads back west to the fields.
On a 6 he goes northwest looking for any sign of survival.
Finnley rolled a 2.
He turned east, heading toward the river and the low hills beyond, the sound of pursuit still echoing faintly in his ears.
