The Land of Time | Session 2

The journey continues…

4/13/2026 – The River’s Edge
Finnley Reed ran as fast as he could out the gates of Farthwell, his hometown now set ablaze by an unknown raiding party. His path led toward the river’s edge, where the townsfolk gathered fresh water. His only hope was that his family had made it there.
What does Finny find at the river?
On a 1: He finds no one.
On a 2: He finds his father.
On a 3: He finds his older brother.
On a 4-6: He finds his younger sister.
Finnley rolled a 2.
As he approached the river, he saw a small group of soot-covered survivors, their faces beaten down with grief. He scanned them quickly until his eyes landed on a familiar face. His father.
With a sigh of relief, Finny ran forward and wrapped his arms around him. His father’s grief-stricken face lit up at the sight of his son.
Finnley and his Father at the river’s edge. The village of Farthwell burning in the background.
“Thank the heavens!” his father exclaimed. “Finnley… they took your mother and sister. To where, I do not know. The locals are saying the raiders went…”
Where did the raiders go?
On a 1-2: They went north.
On a 3-4: They went east into the mountains.
On a 5-6: They headed south.
The roll was a 5.
The raiders were seen heading south with their spoils and newly caught slaves.
“What about Mitchel? Where’s my brother?” Finnley asked, his voice desperate.
“Mitchel… he stood and fought the raiders and was killed. I tried to help, but by the time I got close enough he was already bleeding out. There was nothing I could do… so I headed toward the river with the other survivors,” his father explained.
Finnley’s head sank. His eyes filled with tears as the news struck his heart. His brother dead. His mother and little sister taken by raiders. His father alive, but riddled with grief.
What does Finny do next?
On a 1-3: Finnley decides to follow the raiders south. Alone.
On a 4-5: He heads back to the village to gather supplies.
On a 6: His father joins him in the quest.
Finnley rolled a 1.
Stubborn as always, Finny told his father to stay behind and help the remaining villagers. With only his trusty oak staff, the clothes on his back, and a waterskin of fresh river water, Finnley set off south toward the Broken Coast.
